These markings can be dark on a gray or light tan background. They are nocturnal, but they may bask during the day when night-time temperatures are too low. A boa constrictor has the saddle-like marks all over its body. Boa constrictors are active snakes that appreciate having plenty of room to stretch out, climb, and explore, and they quickly get bored in small or sparse enclosures.
